1 large can of tomato sauce
1 large can of tomato paste
1 large can of kidney beans
2 Tbs. Chili Powder
< 1 Tbs. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black peppe
Optional- 1/8 tsp. hot chili pepper powder
I add 2 palm size measures or 2 Tbs. of chili powder.
Add less than 1 Tbs. of salt (because the canned tomato product has salt added already). Remember less is better, you can always add salt to your bowl, however you can't take it out once it is added. Also, here is here you would add the ground black pepper, about 1/2 tsp. If you are adding hot pepper powder, add only 1/8 tsp. It's powerful!
Once the beef and onions are browned, drain if needed, then add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and reserved bean liquid to the pot. Stir to blend.
Heat until boiling on medium heat.

Cover pot with a lid. Simmer on low for 1 hour. Check pot and stir three to four times in that hour.
Stir the beans into the pot, then simmer for 30 mins. more.
That's all it takes to have a pot of home made chili. You can do many other dishes using this chili as the base. Perhaps, I will share that another time. Enjoy :)
